Halibut Fishing - Port Hardy
Bottom fishing opportunities are available throughout the summer fishing season with good catches of Halibut, Lingcod, Red Snapper and various species of Rockfish. Effective bottom fishing is dependent on favorable tide and wind conditions. Generally speaking the best times are near the 1/4 moon phases and from April to October. Largest Halibut to date: 232 lbs. (1991 Diawa Derby Winner) 212 lbs. (1994 Diawa Derby Winner).
Fishing Charter Schedule
The prime season for catching Halibut is May through October while Lingcod, Red Snapper and Various Rockfish can be caught year round. Contact the Codfather to see which type of fishing is best for the time you plan to arrive.

This is our standard fishing package. We also offer trips from 1 to 5 days for boat only / rooms only or any combination that works for you.

We have consistent fishing all season. Our strategic Vancouver Island fishing charter location is the route that most fish pass through.
Salmon fishing on Vancouver Island starts mid May and continues until the end of September.
Early June expect good catches of Chinook (10-45 lbs).
Late June the first Coho arrive, and larger ones in mid July to early August (8-12 lbs).
August is excellent for larger Chinook (60 lbs), Coho (20+ lbs) and Pinks as well as the occasional Sockeye and Chum.
Bottom fishing for Halibut, Lingcod and Red Snapper is excellent from May through September.
